ABOUT RIDERSHIP COUNT

The State of Washington requires school districts to conduct a school bus “ridership count” in the fall of each school year to determine the number of students who ride the busses. The number of students counted during the designated “ridership count” time sets the level of funding Ridgefield School District receives from the State for transportation services.

For funding purposes, it is important to the District that students who are regular bus riders, ride the bus to school in the mornings on “ridership count” days. Prior to any “count” days, parents are notified by letter that the counts are being taken.
